Manchester United are set for a huge summer overhaul following the club’s recent wobble under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The feel-good factor at Old Trafford has quickly disappeared with United losing six of their last eight games.
Old Trafford officials are now ready to back their new manager with the club hoping to return to its former glory.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set to be handed over £200 million
Manchester United are set to hand Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in excess of £200 million to spend this summer, according to the Evening Standard.
Having impressed as interim manager, Solskjaer was given the job on a permanent basis, but since then, the club’s form has gone south.
The Norwegian manager has begun planning for the summer as he looks to rebuild his side.
Meanwhile, Ander Herrera, Antonio Valencia, Juan Mata, Matteo Darmian, Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly could all depart the club when the transfer window opens.
Premier League preview: Manchester United vs Manchester City
Much is at stake on Wednesday with United’s final chance of getting the top four and City’s final major hurdle in the title race.
Solskjaer will know that failure to beat City could spell the end of their Champions League qualification hopes.
United trail Tottenham Hotspur by six points, Chelsea by three points and Arsenal by two.
Meanwhile, should Pep Guardiola’s side negotiate their way past United, they will have one hand on the title.
Solskjaer has admitted that the Manchester Derby is the biggest chance for the club to bounce back from their defeat to Everton.
“It’s about a reaction, a response. We can’t work on fitness – it’s mindsets.
“I know the players; they’re very good, talented players.
“Everton outran us, outworked us. We have to bring something different now.
“We know the quality of their team but our fans need to know we’ve given absolutely everything – tactically, mentally, physically, as well as handling the ball.
“For me, it’s the best game we could have. There’s no hiding place.
“The world’s watching. The whole of Manchester is watching. Liverpool is watching!”
