One-time Manchester United winger Steve Coppell has this evening pleaded with his former side to part ways with any and all players who do not showcase ‘pride in the shirt’.
Everton run riot
United travelled to Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon, for a crucial outing in the club’s bid to reclaim their spot in the Premier League’s top-4.
A hugely-underwhelming recent run of form on the part of the Red Devils had seen them fall to 5 defeats from their last 7 across all competitions ahead of their trip to Merseyside, though, a streak which had seen them drop to 6th in the English top-flight table, and eliminated from the Champions League.

And to say that the struggles of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men carried into Sunday would be putting it lightly.
An absolutely abysmal showing on the part of the Manchester giants at Goodison eventually saw United put to the sword by 4 goals to nil.
Richarlison’s early opener was added to by Gylfi Sigurdsson shortly before the half-hour mark, before second-half strikes from Lucas Digne and substitute Theo Walcott rounded out a frankly-embarrassing afternoon for the visitors.

‘If they want to go…’
The aftermath of United’s latest defeat has since unsurprisingly seen a number of the club’s stars targeted for what could only be described as a complete lack of effort versus Everton.
The likes of Paul Pogba, David de Gea and Romelu Lukaku all disappointed, with one former Red Devils’ standout having tonight urged the board at Old Trafford to ‘get rid’ of any players who do not make clear that the club ‘actually means something special for them.’
Speaking in an interview with TalkSPORT, Steve Coppell explained:
‘There’s no real consistency now. And rotation is such that it’s hard for any players to really cement their place in the team.’
‘You get your four or five stars. And that’s what United are looking for at the moment.’
‘The Pogbas, the goalkeeper… There seems to be so much indecision with the key players within the team, whether they want to stay, whether they want to go.’
‘If they want to go, get rid of them!’
‘Get people who want to play, who have the pride in the shirt, where playing for Manchester United actually means something special for them.’
‘It is without doubt one of the most special clubs in world football. And you need players who are 100 per cent committed rather than looking for a next contract maybe at another club or maybe in another country.’
‘Manchester United demand what their supporters provide on a weekly basis, which is 100 per cent commitment.’
