Plant a Smile Foundation (PASF), a non-governmental organization on Saturday donated items worth over GH¢ 3000 to widows of Yorogo Asorogobisi under the Bolgatanga Municipality in the Upper East region. The foundation presented 64 half pieces of clothes, assorted washing powder, 2 100kg bags of rice and a 15 litres gallon of oil to the widows of Asorogobisi.
Mr. Reindolph Nana Densu, the Country’s director of PASF, who made the presentation said the purpose of the donation was to respond to the needs of the less privilege in societies especially widows and children. He added that, Jesus when leaving the world commissioned his followers to be kind towards the needy and that the foundation is emulating Jesus who showed compassion for the poor and needy.
The Foundation also presented 500 customized exercise books and over 100 story/reading books to the Asorogobisi’s Primary School. Horrid poverty mostly prevents children of school going age to take up education in this community.
As a means of aiding and encouraging these children, the foundation made this donation to boost up the morale of such underprivileged children. Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the headmistress Mrs. Monica Adongo said one of the reasons for the poor performance of the children is lack of basic learning materials for the pupils, she was very optimistic that the gesture would help tackle that.
The Assemblyman (Hon. Atule Bawa) of the electoral area also seized the opportunity and expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the foundation for their gesture and also appealed to other non-governmental organizations and civil societies to follow suit.
