Court charge Wisa with indecent exposure

Popular musician, Wisa Greid of Ekiki Me fame, is to be arraigned for allegedly showing his genitals on stage during a performance on Christmas Eve.

The rapper was invited on Christmas Day by the Accra Regional Police Command for stripping naked on stage while performing at this year’s Decemba to Rememba concert organised by Accra-based Citi FM.

Midway through his performance at the concert, the musician, while dancing behind a lady on stage, pulled down his boxer shorts and pulled out his manhood.

That shocked the crowd and sent others into a frenzy.

The Ekiki Me man, however, was not perturbed as he continued jumping up and down with his genitals on display.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police Ms Effia Tenge, the rapper’s act was a violation of Section 296, Sub-section 25 of the Criminal Act of 1960.

“The act prohibits the wilful and intentional indecent exposure of one’s genitals in any public place. Wisa will, therefore, be arraigned tomorrow, December 30, 2015 to face the full rigours of the law,” she added.

Condemnation
The rapper’s behaviour has been condemned by many people.

The Director of Hiplife and Hip-hop at the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Mr Edward Nana Poku Osei, popularly known as ‘Hammer’, in a statement, expressed disappointment at the musician’s behaviour.

According to him, Wisa “disgraced this entire organisation and the Ghanaian music industry with his indecent exposure”.

The Programmes Manager of Citi FM, organisers of the event, Ms Jessica Saforo, in a tweet, condemned the rapper’s action and apologised for the unfortunate incident.

“Please accept our sincere apology about the unfortunate incident with Wisa . Citi FM does not condone indecent exposure,” she stated.

Apology
The under-fire musician has, meanwhile, apologised for his action owing to the huge public uproar the incident had generated.

In a statement, he stated that he had regretted his action and was ready “to avail myself to all the planned disciplinary actions”.
